TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A vigil was held Tuesday night for two toddlers who were shot at a central Toledo apartment complex last week.

Toledo Area Ministries and Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance co-hosted the prayer vigil for Leondra and Keondra Hooks, who were severely affected by the shooting Thursday night.

Toledo Mayor Mike Bell, along with other city leaders and clergy members, were in attendance to show their support.

The shooting at Moody Manor Apartments left 1-year-old Keondra Hooks dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Her 2-year-old sister, Leondra Hooks, was also shot once and remains in serious condition.

Leondra's condition has been improving over the last few days. She has been up and walking and can now eat whatever she wants.

The family says seeing how far she has come is the silver lining in a difficult situation.

"We was just so happy because she still - she don't give up. Can't tell her no. If she wants to walk, she's going to walk. If she wants to play, she's going to play. Ain't nothing we can tell her. She's doing it, and I'm so proud of her," said Leondra's aunt Bernice Neal.

Hospital representatives say Leondra could be going home late this week or early next week.

Police are still following leads looking for the two gunmen responsible. No suspects have been named at this point.
