COLUMBUS, OH (Toledo News Now) - On Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Columbus as part of the "Made in Ohio Manufacturing Tour."
Biden is expected to speak at 2:45 p.m. at the Plumbers and Pipefitter Local Union. Biden's speech will highlight the impact of President Obama's efforts to strengthen Ohio's manufacturing industry and bolster middle-class security for Ohio's workers.
Manufacturers are creating jobs for the first time since the late 1990s, with Ohio adding 44,700 manufacturing jobs since the economic recovery began. The auto industry, which supports one in eight jobs in Ohio, has gone from teetering on the brink of collapse in 2009 to making a comeback.
Additionally, Biden will discuss the choice in the upcoming election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt. He will discuss the president's plan to restore middle class security by paying down the nation's debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share, while still investing in the things America needs to create jobs and improve the economy over the long term, such as education, energy, innovation, and infrastructure.
