CLEVELAND, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Witnesses say smoke was rising off the body of a man who received an electric shock while apparently attempting to steal copper wire.
It happened Tuesday night at an electrical substation in Cleveland. Lt. Larry Gray says the man cut through the fence to enter an IRA substation on Harvard. He was severely injured after he attempted to cut a live copper wire, according to police.
The man still had wires in his hands when emergency crews arrived. They rushed him to a Cleveland area hospital. His condition has not been released.
A First Energy spokesperson says they are still working to determine if there was any damage to the equipment.
The victim was transported to a Cleveland area hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
