State of emergency declared for Hancock & Putnam Counties

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) – The city of Findlay has confirmed that a state of emergency has been declared for Findlay and Hancock County after Friday's devastating storms.

The Hancock County Sheriff confirmed that an Emergency Operations Center was opened at the Hancock County Engineer's Office to coordinate city-county emergency response.

Leaders of the village of Forest confirmed that all roads going in and out of the village are closed because of storm cleanup.

The Red Cross will also be assisting the cleanup and management of the county. You can visit their website here.  A shelter is set up at the Senior Citizens Center on East Melrose Ave. in Findlay.

Residents in Putnam County who need disaster/emergency assistance may call the Red Cross Disaster Assistance Line at 419-233-4059.  The Red Cross is providing meals at locations in Ottawa, Ft. Jennings, and Columbus Grove until further notice.

The Putnam County Office of Public Safety says SR 12 in Columbus Grove is closed due to a building collapse and SR 65 is closed between Ottawa and Columbus Grove due to downed lines and poles.  All downed lines should be treated as "live" until the power company has responded.  Residents are asked not to burn any debris due to the extremely dry conditions.
