Findlay Courier: Emergency declared for Hancock Co. and Findlay

FINDLAY, OH (Findlay Courier) - The Emergency Operations Center was opened at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Hancock County Engineer's Office after Friday's storm, to coordinate city-county emergency response.

The center has been opened in the past following major floods in the area. Representatives from various city and county offices and agencies manned the center handling calls.

Hancock County commissioners and Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik have declared an emergency for Hancock County and Findlay.

The emergency declaration enables Findlay and Hancock County to access state resources, like trucks and heavy equipment, to help with storm cleanup, county Commissioner Ed Ingold said.

Due to the weather emergency, the Village of Forest has halted all incoming and outgoing traffic to the village.

Village officials request that all residents stay at home and that no people attempt to enter the village. All village roads and streets are closed to traffic, except for emergency personnel. There is an emergency shelter available for residents at Gormley Park.
