Punctured gas tank causes spill on Route 2

LUCAS COUNTY, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Crews spent the overnight hours Monday cleaning up a fuel spill on Route 2 near Yondota in Lucas County.

Sheriff's deputies say a truck driver ran over some debris in the road, which punctured his fuel tank. The driver tried to get to a nearby gas station, but the border patrol pulled him over before he could get there.

About 100 gallons of fuel leaked on the road. The westbound lane was closed during cleanup. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was also at the scene to ensure fuel didn't get into any waterways.
