TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A special reopening event is set for Saturday, June 16 at Roosevelt Pool, which is opening for the first time since 2009.
The City of Toledo has made $277,000 worth of improvements, including plumbing upgrades, new security fencing and work on the bath house.
Dondra Carter applauds the city for the project, saying "I think it makes the neighborhood look a lot better. It's going to be a beautiful thing for the kids, activities for the kids. I plan to bring my children when it opens."
Tish Davis also notices the difference for the neighborhood along Dorr Street.
"It'll give the kids somewhere to go for the summer instead of running up and down the streets getting in trouble," Davis said.
Roosevelt Pool will be open from Noon-6 p.m. on Saturday, with admission being $1 per person for the reopening event.
On Tuesday, June 19, the 6 city pools operating this summer, Roosevelt, Willys, Navarre, Pickford, Jamie Farr and Wilson Pools will open for its regular summer schedule. Click here for more information.
