BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Over the last week and a half, Bowling Green police have gotten reports of 15 car thefts.
Police say personal items like phones, MP3 players, and even cash have been stolen. They say in order to stop these kinds of crimes they need to begin with educating the public.
Police caution drivers to lock their doors and make sure their windows are rolled all the way up. They say people shouldn't leave items lying around in their cars, and should pay extra attention at night.
Police say they don't have any suspects yet, but they believe they're only looking for a small group of maybe 2 or 3 people. They add that even once the people responsible are in custody, residents shouldn't be lulled into a false sense of security.
"A lot of people are of the opinion that that stuff will never happen in Bowling Green, Ohio, but it only takes one person doing something to cause someone to be a victim," said Lieutenant Bradley Biller of the Bowling Green Police Division.
Anyone with information about the car thefts should contact Bowling Green Police.
