TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Looking for a lost dog in Lucas County? Now pet owners can look on more than just the streets; they can also check the web. A new local website is dedicated to help bring lost pets home safely.
Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez said the new website is an added tool to keep owners from worrying. The site is designed to encourage responsible ownership and licensure of pets.
If a dog is licensed and lost, the person who finds it can go to the website and type in the dog's ID number and search results will give the name and contact information of the owner.
Lopez said it is a way to speed up the pet's homecoming.
"It's so important because they are such a part of our lives, our dogs and our pets, that we wanted to make sure that we provided a tool to return to them home as quickly and safely as possible. Instead of waiting for the auditor's office to open up, or for the dog warden to go and find them," explained Lopez.
The website is free and open to anyone with licensed dogs in Lucas County.
