BOWLING GREEN, OH (Press Release) – A commercialtruck driver is facing felony kidnapping charges after Ohio State HighwayPatrol troopers recovered two missing juveniles from Kentucky during 2 separate incidents inWood and Shelby counties over the weekend.
On June 9 at 4 p.m., trooperswere notified by the caretaker of the Interstate 75, milepost 179, rest areathat a young distraught female reported that she had just been released by hercaptor after being abducted for several days. The 17-year-old female alsoreported that the captor still had another juvenile in his custody.
Troopers located thesuspect's commercial vehicle on Interstate 75, southbound, near milepost 98 in Shelby Countyat 5:36 p.m. and located the second missing juvenile – a 16-year-old female –in the vehicle.
The suspect, Darien Lakeith McKinley, 30, of Stonebridge, Ga.,was charged with kidnapping, a second-degree felony and incarcerated in theWood County Jail.
The Patrol and the FBI in Toledo and Daytonare investigating the kidnapping as a possible case of human trafficking.Federal charges are possible.
