Former TPD Sergeant ordered to undergo mental treatment

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge Myron Duhart has orderedGloria Burks, a former ToledoPolice Sergeant who shot her partner two years ago, to undergo court supervised mental heath treatment.

Rather than sendher to a state mental hospital, Judge Duhart is allowing Burks to receive hertreatment in the community and live in her Toledo home.

Burks was found not guilty byreason of insanity and ordered to receive medical treatments for up to 13years.

The court order requires Burks to follow the orders of her doctors and requires her to undergo allsuggested treatments. Those doctors willreport her treatments to the court.

The court also orderedher to surrender her gun, not possess a gun and give up her driver's license.
