(Toledo News Now) - Thinking of taking a trip to Disney or Universal theme parks in the coming months? You better save more money.
If you are a fan of Disney or Universal, the thrills keep getting better and better. Both parks are expanding with new rides and movie-themed attractions.
The downside: It is going to cost you more than ever to enjoy them.
Disney and Universal are turning up the heat with what Time magazine calls an attraction arms race. At Universal, it is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and a new Transformers ride. Disney is countering with new rides based on the movie Cars.
But all that is going to cost you. A day ticket to Walt Disney World in Orlando is now $90, and $87 at Disneyland in Los Angeles. Universal Orlando is now $88 a day.
From the doesn't that stink file: the vanishing discount for children.
At both Disney and Universal, a child's ticket is just $6 less than mom or dad's ticket. Children are now determined age 9 and younger.
The key to saving money is to purchase multiple day packages. You can cut day ticket prices in half if you purchase a weeklong Disney Magic Your Way Pass.
Remember to check for in-state resident discounts, military discounts, and AAA or AARP discounts. That way you enjoy the new rides for less and you don't waste your money.
