Crews working to repair west Toledo gas leak, all roads open

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) – The intersection of Phillips Ave. and Haverhill Dr. in west Toledo has reopened.  The intersection was closed for a little over an hour Monday morning due to a natural gas main break in front of the Burger King on Haverhill Dr.

Crews were able to isolate the broken line to make sure service wasn't affected.

A spokesman with Columbia Gas says a contractor hit a 2 inch medium pressure gas line while digging at the intersection around 10:30 a.m. Monday.  Columbia Gas says no customers have lost natural gas service because of the break.

Superior Uniform Sales on Phillips Ave. was evacuated because the wind was blowing gas from the break directly towards their building.

"They came in and told us there was a gas leak and to evacuate the whole facility, which we did. We got rid of all our people; about 20 people went home.  So we're out of business for the whole day," said Louis Darah, president of Superior Uniform Sales.
