2 dead in SR2 crash, roadway closed

OAK HARBOR, OH (Toledo News Now) – Two people died in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Ottawa County.

Police say the driver of a semi truck and the driver of an SUV both died after their vehicles collided head-on just after noon on State Route 2 in Ottawa County.  The accident happened near the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says SR 2 is closed at mile marker 4 because of the accident.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say the roadway will remain closed for an extended period of time as they work to clear the scene.

Drivers can use SR 590, SR 163 and SR358 as a detour.
