Police looking for suspect in robbery string

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Police are looking for a suspect they say is responsible for several area robberies. One happened at Twice-But-Nice, a consignment shop on Alexis in west Toledo.

Police say the same suspect is wanted in connection with several robberies in the area. Toledo News Now has received surveillance video of robbery that took place last Tuesday at Twice-But-Nice.

The suspect is around 20 years old. Police say he went into the store and looked around before approaching the cash register. They say the suspect demanded money, saying he had a gun and a knife. As the store clerk called 911, the suspect ran behind the counter and grabbed the cash register. He got away with the register and the $800 inside. Police later found the register in a Toledo pond, but they're still looking for the suspect.

A suspect with a similar description is also wanted in connection with 3 robberies out of Monroe County. In one case, the man robbed a 76 year old woman who was planting flowers at Whiteford Cemetery in Bedford. Monroe county Sheriff's deputies say the man stole a purse from the woman's car.  She tried hitting him with a planting tool but he got away.

We suspect that he's going to continue to do more robberies and obviously the public safety is first and foremost," says Sgt. Roy Kennedy of the Toledo Police Department.

The suspect was driving a maroon Ford Fusion. If you know anything that could help police, call crimestopper at 419-255-1111.
