PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) - Wednesday was the last day of school for Perrysburg High School seniors. One of them walked out, or rather, drove out, with a lot more than she had coming in.
There is always a lot of hype surrounding the Taylor Hyundai car giveaway the high school does for seniors. Students said this year's event exceeded their expectations.
To enter, seniors submit their names for the car drawing earlier in the semester. They can have multiple entries based on good grades, extracurricular activities, and teacher recommendations. Their names can also be taken out if they have discipline issues, which school administrators said helps keep the seniors focused in their last semester.
All this led to the third annual event, in which 10 students were randomly picked as finalists. Out of those 10, three received keys to 2012 Elantras brought in by Taylor Hyundai, but only one of them started a car to become the lucky winner.
"It feels really surreal. I'm shocked and speechless and I just can't believe it's happening. It's like, who would have thought that the last day of senior year I could possibly win a car," said winner Jennifer Lee.
The winner is not the only one who got a prize, the other finalists all received local gift cards.
