TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - The Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) broke ground Wednesday on $46 million master planned community.

Phase one is the Collingwood Green Project at the intersection of Division and Belmont Streets. The project includes 272 units of mixed income rentals and another 60 units of affordable and market-rate housing.

The LMHA says that when the community is completed, it will be the flagship for green and sustainable housing development in downtown Toledo. It's centered on a 7.5-acre park with a  biking and walking path as well as community garden space and views of the Toledo skyline.

Two of the oldest housing developments in the city were torn down to begin this one: the Brand Whitlock and Albertus Brown homes.
