Students who brought gun to TPS school sentenced

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) – The two students who were charged after police say one of them brought a gun to Keyser Elementary on April 19 were sentenced Thursday.

The two 14 year-olds will be sent to a youth treatment center for at least six months.  If they have problems there they could be held until they turn 21.

Officials say the eighth-grader brought a .40-caliber handgun to school. A teacher at the school was notified that the student and a friend were passing the gun back and forth.

After the teacher became suspicious, the student threw away the gun in a trash can, which was later found by a teacher.
