TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) – Toledo Police have made an arrest in the case of a home invasion, shooting and carjacking in north Toledo Wednesday.

Demeko Deshun McDaniel was arrested Thursday morning in Monroe, Michigan.

Police believe McDaniel walked into a home in the 1000 block of Bricker Ave. shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday.  Police received a report from neighbors of shots fired inside the home.  When they entered the residence a short time later they found a man dead inside.

Police say the man found has been identified as Junior Francous, 39.

Police believe McDaniel pistol whipped a woman inside the home, held her hostage for a short time, and then escaped just before police entered the home around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

McDaniel then stole a white 1996 four-door Pontiac Grand Prix on Homer Street, the next block over, and fled the scene.

McDaniel is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail.
