TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Neighbors in east Toledo are raising concerns about a bar which opened at the location of the former Tequila Sheila's and Rooster Inn, on the 800 block of Starr Ave.
O'Fives Bar and Grill opened in December, and Earl Grames living behind the bar on Platt St. says it's already a ten on his headache scale"
"Since December they've had nothing but trouble, nothing but trouble."
Heather Ayers says that list of trouble includes an overnight shooting incident where a dispute spilled out onto her front yard:
"There was 5 gunshots went off. The people rolled from the bar in front of my house, they were fighting, a guy got in his car and backed up into a girl's car 5 times."
Toledo Police say there have been 4 crime reports filed for incidents inside the bar, including disorderly conduct, grand theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The bar owner denied a request for an on-camera interview, but he did point out the installation of a walk-through metal detector at the front entrance, a security camera system which monitors both inside and outside the bar, and he has an off-duty police officer working the door on Friday and Saturday nights.
Neighbors say what's being done isn't enough to provide a safe environment for them.
"When it was the Rooster Inn, it was like a mom-and-pop bar. Now, it's thug central," says Ayers.
