TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A local woman is in the June issue of Vanity Fair after winning the "Camera-Ready Style" contest. The issue is already in stands everywhere.
Kate McComb, a Toledo resident, entered the "Camera-Ready Style" contest sponsored by Vanity Fair and Estee Lauder. She won a trip to New York City, two tickets to a fashion show and a photo shoot with one of the magazine's photographers, along with an Estee Lauder makeup artist.
To enter the contest, McComb sent in a photo of herself and answered three questions: What camera-ready style means to her, how she gets camera ready every day, and who her style icons are.
After passing the first round of the contest, she then had a phone interview, which led to her victory.
McComb said she was drawn to the contest because modeling and acting have always been a passion of hers, and she has always dreamed of being in a magazine. McComb has modeled locally since she was 15. Most recently she has modeled for the Hollywood Casino, but also for Leo Marks Jewelers and The F.J. Westcott Company.
Still, this was her first national experience.
"It was a chance of a lifetime. I mean, it was just absolutely amazing. I have been dreaming of being in magazines and things like that forever, since I was a little girl. I've always looked at fashion magazines. So it was definitely a dream come true," said McComb.
In one of her answers, McComb said Marilyn Monroe was one of her style icons. McComb will get to live her dream with Monroe on the cover of her issue.
