BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) – Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking drivers to call a new number when they see something on Ohio highways.
The patrol recently installed license plates on all of its vehicles promoting the number. Drivers should now dial #677 if they see a disabled vehicle, drunk driver, drug use or trafficking and any other criminal activity. Of course, drivers should still dial 911 in the event of an emergency.
Troopers say the number has already helped them stop criminals. "A month or so we got a call of a female that was smoking marijuana driving northbound on Interstate 75. We were able to get it stopped and she was in fact smoking marijuana. She was under the influence and she also had a bunch of marijuana and scales in the vehicle. She admitted she was selling marijuana and also had ecstasy in the vehicle," said SGT. Nate Henn with the patrol.
