OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Eagle's Landing Golf Club in Oregon has new owners. They have made a few significant improvements and changes that some say have been neglected in recent years.
New owners feel there is strength in numbers. They already own three other clubs and will combine parts of the operations.
"But we just thought with three courses, bought another one, take advantage of the economy of scale. Share equipment with each course, things like that," said owner Cary Long.
The biggest change golfers will notice is more than 20 bunkers have been removed to reduce maintenance costs. Also, fertilizer and chemicals have been applied to get grass to grow and improve conditions in the rough.
"The conditions may have slipped a little bit, but the business, being tough, there's some things that could be improved," said Long.
What makes Eagle's Landing so great now for golfers?
"What I like most about the layout is it's challenging for golfers and also, guys like me, that aren't very good. Places where you can bail out," said Long.
Long hopes by "bailing out" Eagle's Landing, this once proud golf course will soar again.
