HURON TOWNSHIP, OH (Press Release) - The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle crash that happened Wednesday afternoon at 3:44 p.m. The crash happened in Erie County on State Route 2, about a half mile west of Berlin Road.
Michael Labbruzzo, 57, residing in Temperance, MI was driving an International semi-truck with trailer. Mr. Labbruzzo was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio by Huron Fire/EMS with minor injuries.
The truck sustained damage to the front end and left fuel tank. The fuel tank was punctured resulting in a loss of approximately 60 gallons of diesel fuel.
Labbruzzo was driving west on SR-2 when he drove off of the right side of the road, went through a fence, and struck several small trees before coming to rest. Spill-Tek was called to the scene to clean up the fuel spill.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Huron Fire Department, Spill-Tek, and Ralph's Towing.
Mr. Labbruzzo was cited for failure to control and alcohol is not a factor in the crash.
