TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) – The FAA mandated disaster drill comes up every 3 years, and the Toledo Express Airport performed a full-scale exercise Wednesday night.
U.S. airports are supposed to coordinate emergency plans with local law enforcement agencies, safety agencies, and hospital organizations in order to confirm that everyone is prepared in case of a disaster.
The Toledo Express Airport conducts a tabletop disaster drill exercise every year.
The drill is set not only to prepare U.S. airports for disasters, but to coordinate disaster efforts with local law enforcement agencies, rescue and firefighting agencies and medical personnel.
Officials say it is important for all agencies to be on the same page about relief efforts, and drills like these help prepare everyone for a real emergency.
After the drills, the agencies meet, debrief and identify any holes in their disaster efforts.
