Police: Man tossed drugs during south Toledo chase

TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Marvell Hinton, 19, and William Gardner, both of Vance Street, were arrested early Wednesday after a police chase.

Police say an officer observed a stolen 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and attempted to pull over the occupants, which led to a pursuit when Hinton refused to stop. It began at South and Shasta in south Toledo and ended when he crashed the vehicle into a fence and utility pole near Spencer.

During the pursuit, drugs were thrown from the vehicle, according to police.

Both fled on foot and were caught and arrested a short time later.

Another passenger, Kris Davis, remained in the vehicle and was released from the scene.

There were no reported injuries.

Hinton was charged with possession of crack cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine, tampering with evidence, fail to comply, receiving stolen property and traffic violations.
