TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) – Organ donation saves almost 30,000 lives every year, and that's wonderful. Especially when you consider that another name is added to the National Transplant Waiting List every 10 minutes.
To help bring focus to this ever-increasing need, WTOL 11 hosted the Green Chair Donate Life Sit-in. For 24 consecutive hours the focus was on organ donation. Family members, organ recipients and living donors volunteered to keep the Green Chair occupied to raise awareness about organ donation.
The simple request is, when you renew your driver's license, say 'yes' to organ donation. This decision gives you the potential power to save 8 lives through organ donation and up to 50 more through tissue donation.
Organ donation is an individual choice. Just know that if you choose to donate, you have chosen to give the gift of life to someone you will probably never meet, but who will never, ever forget you.
