2 suspicious fires investigated in central Toledo

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Fire crews battled a house fire on the 1000 block of Fernwood near Forest in central Toledo around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

The majority of the fire was in the back of the house. Firefighters said the house appeared to be vacant. Crews are not sure how the fire started, but called an arson investigator to look into it further.

Another fire happened on Indiana Avenue just a few blocks away around 3 a.m. The house was boarded up making it tough on firefighters to get inside.

No one was hurt in either fire.

Investigators are working to see if the two fires are connected.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything is asked to call the police or CrimeStopper at 419-255-1111.
