First slot machines arrive at Hollywood Casino

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – One of the most important elements for Toledo's Hollywood Casino has arrived via semi trucks Monday. Up until this point, construction has been focused on preparing the building for opening. With Monday's delivery of the first slot machines, the focus has switched to preparing the casino operations.

Several semi trucks full of slot machines arrived Monday morning with a total of 550 machines expected to arrive. By March 21, a total of 2,000 machines will be delivered.

Casino managers said they have eight technicians full-time to install the high-tech machines.

"We have to get them set on the bases. We have to put the player tracking kits in. Everything has to be mounted. After that, we actually put the e-prompt software in, which controls the game themes themselves. So we'll get the games set up. We'll establish our criteria. We'll get the e-prompt set up and we'll be ready for play, or testing at that point in time. Once they're tested, when we open we'll be ready for live play," explained Mike Galle, assistant general manager at Hollywood Casino.

Galle said the slot machines will generate about 85 percent of the casino's business and will range from 1 cent to $100. The machines will have a variety of games, including video poker.

"Right now there's a lot of video features in the slot machines: multiline games, from nine lines to 50 lines to 100 line slot machines now. It's all video streamed. There are still the bar-bar-bar games but the majority of the floor will be video games," said Mike Galle, assistant general manager at Hollywood Casino.

The target opening date is still expected to be the week of May 28.
