Santorum to speak at Hillsdale College Monday

Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum will visit Hillsdale College Monday.

HILLSDALE, MI (WTOL) – Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum will visit Hillsdale College Monday.

The visit is part of the school's first presidential candidate symposium.  Students have also invited the three other leading republican candidates, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, to participate in the forum.  So far, Santorum is the only candidate to accept the invitation.

All four candidates are campaigning heavily in Michigan ahead of the state's Feb. 28 primary.  Mitt Romney held an economic roundtable discussion in Monroe Thursday.

Recent polls in Michigan show Santorum ahead of the former Massachusetts Governor, who grew up in the state.  Paul and Gingrich are polling at a distant third and fourth, respectively.

Santorum is looking to build on his momentum after winning contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri on Feb. 7.   Although Santorum may be on a roll, Romney still leads the delegate count with 105 to Santorum's 71.

All four candidates are looking for a strong showing in Michigan ahead of 'Super Tuesday' on March 6.  Voters in 11 states, including Ohio, will head to the polls that day.
