TOLEDO, OH (WTOL EDITORIAL) - Mayor Mike Bell should pull back the curtain on the mess in the Neighborhoods department of the city.
A recent Toledo Blade series uncovered a long history of questionable behavior and practices. Mayor Bell must follow the trail of wasted taxpayer money regardless of where it leads or whom it muddies. He should send a message to all city employees and vendors that nobody is going to be protected.
If this is as bad as it seems, it will get ugly. That's ok. The integrity of this administration may well rest on its willingness to question the integrity of the system. One thing for sure, there are plenty of people waiting to see what happens next.
