
TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The number of officers has been critically low within the Toledo Police Department and the Toledo Police Patrolmen's Association has asked Internal Affairs to look into the total number of internal complaints.
The Police Administration
says that there are 545 sworn officers within the Toledo Police Department.
According to the Toledo Police Patrolmen's Association, the number is down by 100 officers since 2008.
Complaints to internal affairs increased from 2010 to 2011 by 6-percent. Despite the increase, discipline has gone down with written reprimands lowering by 31%, suspensions going down by 25%, and terminations being reduced by 50%.
The Union and the City are currently in contract negotiations.
