30,000 applicants applied for Hollywood Casino openings

PERRYSBURG, OH (WTOL) – Officials from Hollywood Casino Toledo said they will not have many positions left to fill after they hosted their third and final job fair Monday with lines out the door.

Organizers said this was the best turnout they have had so far. More than 1,000 people showed up to compete for the remaining 80 job openings at the casino. Other spots were filled by candidates who went to the job fairs held last week.

With a total of 30,000 applicants, organizers expect fewer than 15 jobs to remain open by Tuesday.

"It feels pretty nice I would say! And the talent has been amazing. We knew people wouldn't have the skill set to do work with a casino, meaning they wouldn't know how to fix slot machines or deal the cards, but we're finding that they have the right personality here, and I think the service we can provide will just really amaze people," said Chrystal Herndon, vice president of human resources.

The casino is still accepting applications online for the remaining jobs and for those who did not go to the job fairs.

A high temperature of 92 degrees tied a record today. The high also made it six 90 degree days in-a-row, four records tied or broken. Wednesday will start off warm and humid, but be prepared for winds to shift to northerly...More >>
