NAPOLEON, (OH) - Napoleon Police are investigating the city's first homicide since 2000. The victim is identified as 19 year old Katilyn Nagel.

In custody and charged with aggravated murder is Ms. Nagel's fiancé, 22 year old Michael Peddicord.

"It's a shock because I know the parents, the family. Lots of members of the family. I feel for them" says neighbor Ruth Like.

Napoleon Police say Ms. Nagel was stabbed to death at Mr. Peddicord's home in the 500 block of West Main Street on Monday. Her body was found in a bedroom.

Neighbors find it unsettling and alarming a murder could occur in a small, rural community like Napoleon.

"It's just so shocking when it happens near your own home as opposed to seeing it or hearing it on the news it being so far away from you. It just strikes you when it's closer to home and across the street" says Michael Webb.

Facebook pictures show a happy couple, but two postings Monday morning are disturbing.

Mr. Peddicord writes at 11:23 A.M "I love you Kate." She responds at 11:26 A.M "I love you too."

Police say Mr. Peddicord called them about a possible homicide at the house at 11:57 A.M.

"It's just a shock but it can happen anywhere. People are people and you never know" says Ms. Like.

Police are releasing very few details about the murder.

Mr. Peddicord will be arraigned Tuesday morning in Napoleon Municipal Court.
