Cooper Tire reaches contract with United Steel Workers

FINDLAY, OH (WTOL) - Cooper Tire and the United Steel Workers Union have reached a tentative contract covering 1,050 workers in the Findlay Tire Plant.

North American Manufacturing Vice President John Bodart stated, "We are very happy to have forged an agreement with the Union that keeps Cooper tires being produced in Findlay, Ohio. Both parties worked very hard to come to a deal that helps the plant compete in an ultra-competitive and increasingly volatile global market. This is an important move for our employees, our business, and the Findlay community."

Union President Rodney Nelson said workers can learn about the deal at an 8 a.m. meeting Saturday at the Winebrenner Theological Seminary in Findlay.

Both the Union and the Company encourage all members of Local 207L to attend the ratification meeting that is scheduled this Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 8:00 a.m. at the Winebrenner Seminary at 950 North Main Street in Findlay.

He said a ratification vote is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Local 207LUnion Hall.

Nelson can not give specifics of the deal other than it is for three years and keeps wages at current levels.
