Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A among new businesses planned for Perrysburg Township

ROSSFORD, OH (WTOL) - Business is booming in one local community, and more people want in. Several restaurants are planning to open in the commercial zone of Perrysburg Township along Fremont Pike, Route 20. High traffic is drawing new business to the area.

Tim Horton's and Chipotle have received the green light from the Perrysburg Township Zoning Department to build where a Sunoco gas station currently sits near the I -75 off-ramp. Chick-Fil-A has submitted preliminary plans to build in the parking lot in front of Kohl's. Ground could break on those projects next year. A Dollar Tree has applied for a sign permit to move into the Perrysburg Plaza space next to Hobby Lobby. Behind that plaza, construction is already underway on the new Woodmont Manor apartment complex. It is expected to have about 80 one story apartment units.

Across the street, in Rossford, a Five Guys Burgers and Fries in a brand new plaza opened last week and was packed at lunchtime Friday.

"I've lived here 25 years and there just hasn't been anything for us," said Perrysburg resident Joanna Heuss. "We've had to cross the river to get something to eat, so now we're all excited we're getting some restaurants in."

However, as new businesses move in, a long time staple is shutting its doors. Moser's Farm Market will close on November 15, after 25 years in business.

"The business is wonderful, we've had the best year we've ever had. However, it's time now we should think about retirement," said co-owner Rose Moser, 72, who cited health concerns as part of the decision to close.

BYLINE: Victoria Idoni EAST TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - This is an all too familiar scene on the roads: people getting distracted behind the wheel. April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. One month out of the year is certainly not enough to observe safer driving habits. This is something we should always keep in mind. The good news is, there are ways in which our changing culture is evolving to deal with technology and how it can both hel...
