WTOL Editorial: Kasich was absolutely right to veto House Bill 231

Ohio Governor John Kasich did the right thing when he vetoed House Bill 231.

Among other things, this bill would have allowed manufacturers, farms and municipal water users to withdraw up to 5 million gallons per day from Lake Erie.

For comparison purposes, Michigan has set a daily withdrawal limit of just 2 million gallons per day, and it has a lot more shoreline with which to work.

I think we need to be very defensive about our water usage.  Water is the one ace in our deck of cards that cannot be replicated in states which are currently sucking away our businesses.  Every industry and every person needs water.

The Great Lakes States have it.  Let's keep it and protect it.
