Toledo housing development to get $46M facelift

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) and the City of Toledo are holding a news conference Wednesday to announce a new central Toledo housing community.

The Brand Whitlock and Albertus Brown Housing developments on Division Avenue will be torn down and replaced.

The $46 million Collingwood Green development will be constructed using a combination of funding. It's being paid for with HUD funds, LIHTC equity, HDAP, local HOME, AHP, conventional debt and a deferred developer fee. Approximately $13 million of local and state funds will be spent on the project.

Also included in the plans are additional greenspace, a community center and several small businesses.

The LHMA says the revitalized development on the western edge of the Toledo Central Business District will be a catalyst for future development in Toledo.
