Millbury residents celebrate 'Triumph Over Tragedy'

MILLBURY, OH (WTOL) - Members of the Millbury community came together for block party Saturday to remember lost friends and neighbors and celebrate how the community has recovered.

The money raised at the event will go to the Lake Township Fire and Police Departments.

Among those attending: Heather Rossie, whose house was destroyed. Rossie ended up in the hospital with a broken neck and nose.

"We don't take storms for granted. We hate thunderstorms--especially the severe ones. It's all really tragic" says Heather.

The Rossies moved into a new house last February and it stands where their old one stood.

"We lost the house. You can replace the house. My family is O. K. Can't replace them. Family good" says Heather's husband Basel.

Most of the families along Main Street in Millbury have rebuilt.

The Rossies say they can see lives returning to normal but the neighborhood will never be the same. Three members of a family that lived across the street died in the tornado.

"They always say things can go just like that. Exactly that's how it happened" said Darla Rossie.
