For summer, I switch over some products in my makeup bag. Here are four products I always make sure to always have on hand:
Lip Gloss With SPF:
Lipstick keeps your mouth moist during the cold winter, but dark shades can look harsh on a bright sunny day.
When you starting peeling off layers of clothing, pare down your lips too, and play up your pout with sheer formulas like glosses and balms. They're the perfect complement to the carefree attitude of summer, offering a punch of color and sexy shine that's further enhanced in the sunlight.
When choosing your tube or pot, make sure it's got an SPF of at least 15. Skin cancer can develop on the lips, so more and more companies are creating glosses with sun protection.
The fastest way to give your face a healthy glow? Reach for a bronzer.
Choose a shade with a touch of shimmer and apply it where the sun would naturally hit your skin. A good guide is to start at the cheekbones and continue in a "C" formation, dusting along the temples and finishing at the forehead.
These often fly under the radar, yet mattifiers are key to solving one of the most common summertime complaints women have about their skin -- shininess.
The purpose of a mattifier is to do exactly what its name says: give skin a matte finish. They're made with ingredients that sop up the oils that pores produce before a grease slick collects on your face.
My favorite mattifiers are the multitaskers that do double or even triple duty. Some moisturize and provide sun protection while others also act as primers or foundations.
Bright Eye Shadow:
Accentuate your eyes with vibrant colors like the canary yellow and grass green that perked up spring runways.
If intense shadow seems scary, a more wearable way to interpret this trend is to swipe bright eyeliner along the upper or lower lashes.
