LENAWEE COUNTY, MI (WTOL) - The father of the three missing Morenci boys appeared briefly in Lenawee County Circuit Court Wednesday.
A judge agreed to a continuance in John Skelton's criminal hearing on parental kidnapping charges.
When Lenawee County Prosecutor Jonathan Poer was asked about a possible plea bargain for Skelton, he said that would depend on the information prosecutors have -- and what the additional investigation turns up.
Skelton is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 23.
Nine-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner Skelton have not been seen since Thanksgiving Day, when they were with their father in Morenci, MI.
In a jailhouse phone interview with Detroit reporters, Skelton claims he gave the boys to a foster family, but says it was only supposed to be a one-day trial run.
However, Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks said last week that the boys' disappearance has turned into a homicide investigation.
Additionally, Weeks asked area residents who live along the Michigan-Ohio border to be on the lookout for the boys' bodies.
