Council ponders downtown development proposals

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The debate is underway at Toledo City Council over some downtown development proposals.

Council members are working to decide if the city will apply for a $10 million federal loan to help convert the vacant Berdan warehouse building into an apartment complex.

Members are discussing if $150,000 worth of federal money should go towards the creation of a new downtown development authority.

"The stars are aligned to do something great we need to move forward with this we cannot be hesitating," said Toledo Mayor Mike Bell.

However, others are not sold on the plan.

In fact, council's Adam Martinez admits he has doubts about the proposal and does not know if he will support it.

Council may vote on both downtown proposals on Dec. 21.
