WTOL Editorial: Northwest Ohioans come through for Lake High

By WTOL Vice President and General Manager Bob Chirdon - email

The generosity of the people in this region is extraordinary. In the past month, WTOL combined with The Blade and BCSN to help Lake High School outfit its temporary home.

We asked you to lend a hand, and you did in a big, big way. Thank you for your compassion and your gifts.

This Friday night, WTOL will broadcast a two-hour newscast, from 5-7p.m. We'll be live from Lake High School before the first home game for the football team in the renovated stadium. There will be a half-hour, pre-game show that marks a turning point for the community.

I hope you watch this special newscast. It isn't often that we get to capture real people dealing with life and death, and with destruction, then choosing to have hope for tomorrow. It should be a poignant moment.

The recent decision of ProMedica's Board of Trustees to enter into a transfer agreement with Capital Care Network, Toledo's last remaining abortion facility, just doesn't make sense.
