WTOL Editorial: CSX turns intermodal talk into reality

We have all heard the talk about intermodal this and intermodal that. For the most part, I think the topic seems too 'out there' to really matter.

Well, CSX Transportation is turning intermodal talk into intermodal reality. CSX has made a whopping $175 million commitment to develop its intermodal terminal in North Baltimore. This project continues to grow and is now the centerpiece of the larger project known as the National Gateway.

Over time, this terminal becomes the switching point for a state-of-the-art rail corridor that links the east coast's international deepwater ports and major markets with the manufacturing centers of the midwest.

What CSX is building in North Baltimore becomes proof positive that northwest Ohio truly has what it takes to become an intermodal powerhouse. We must move quickly to capitalize on the synergy this project possesses.

Now we have something real to believe in. Now we have something real to build from. What we don't have is time for more debate. It's now or never.

The recent decision of ProMedica's Board of Trustees to enter into a transfer agreement with Capital Care Network, Toledo's last remaining abortion facility, just doesn't make sense.
