FREMONT, OH (WTOL) - Two police officers have been put on routine paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation into the shooting death of a man at a home in the 3400 block of Tiffin Road in Fremont over the weekend.
Sandusky County Sheriff Kyle Overmyer has identified the man who died as 26-year-old Bryan Jones.
Family members say they called police Sunday because Jones has mental issues and had been drinking. When the family called police again later that night, they say Jones was passed out on the couch with a shotgun on his chest when deputies arrived.
After they were outside for about an hour, the sheriff says a flash-bang was thrown through a window to divert Jones. As a result, a tactical response team went into the house and shots were fired.
