NORTHWOOD, OH (WTOL) - Ryan Hartle, a Northwood firefighter, coped with the devastation after the Millbury tornado by writing a song to express his feelings.

Hartle was one of the first on the scene after the tornado tore through Millbury.

"I was searching for people in houses and the whole time I was like, 'I don't want to see this, this is unreal,'" he said.

He says it was a time filled with chaos and confusion.

"Nobody really knew what to expect. Nobody knew if you were going to find somebody or what you were going to do if you did find somebody."

As he made his way from house to house the realization of how lives were dramatically changed became clear.

"I'd see pictures of families on the ground and that was just ... overwhelming," Hartle said.

It was after finding out that he lost a close friend to the tornado, Bailey Bowman, that Hartle said he needed to express himself. as a musician his outlet of expression was a song. "One day I was just writing and I wanted to get everything off of my chest to find closure."
