Toledo, OH (WTOL) - The Toledo Board of Education will meet Thursday to discuss putting a new operational levy on the May ballot.
The Toledo Public School district expects a $30 million budget deficit for this school year and may turn to the voters for help. The money would be used for things like utilities, salaries, and day-to-day operations at school buildings.
However, the levy may have a road block in the form of the scandal involving former business manager Daniel Burns, who is accused of stealing $660,000 from the district.
School President Bob Vasquez says of the continuing investigation, "It is very important that things move forward as quickly as possible, however, I don't want any investigation to be moved through quickly and not do what needs to be done."
The District Treasurer says the amount the district will ask of the voters has not been determined at this time.
