Northeast Ohio county commissioner arrested

WARREN, Ohio (AP) - A Northeast Ohio county commissioner has pleaded not guilty to a charge he assaulted his wife on a golf course.

Trumbull County Commissioner Dan Polivka was arraigned yesterday in Warren Municipal Court and posted a $2,500 bond.

Police say Polivka's wife, JoAnn, was in a golf cart with a man around noon yesterday when Dan Polivka drove his golf cart toward his wife, striking her cart. Police say Polivka then threw the other man's golf clubs onto the ground, grabbed his wife and struck her. Polivka was arrested shortly afterward at a library in Howland Township.

Municipal Court Judge Thomas Gysegem banned Polivka from having any contact with his wife.
