BOWLING GREEN, OH (WTOL) - As Bowling Green State University gears up for a busy move-in weekend, the university finds itself on one of the most prestigious lists in all of higher education: U.S. News and World Report's list of The Best Colleges in America.
Students who picked BGSU have new evidence to show they made a good decision. U.S. News and World Reports ranks BGSU eleventh in three categories as one of the best universities in the country.
BGSU President Dr. Carol Cartwright says this distinction is exciting because this ranking is decided on by other universities.
"It's very gratifying to find ourselves in the list of programs to look for in areas we've been focusing and constantly working to be affective," says Cartwright.
The three areas in which BGSU focuses and has now been ranked are commitment to teaching, first-year experience and learning communities.
"Think about being a prospective student or parent and how you would react in hearing that a university you have under consideration is highly ranked as an institution that has a great commitment to undergraduate teaching."
And as you can imagine, as new students and parents move around campus, this news is adding to the excitement.
Gwendolyn Burns says as a mom who' paying for a very expensive education for her daughter, she thinks it's great to that BGSU has been chosen as one of the top schools.
BGSU is in good company. Schools like University of Michigan, Princeton, Yale and Stanford are also on the list in these three categories.
