POINT PLACE (WTOL) - The convenience of the post office in Point Place could become a thing of the past. A sluggish economy has the post office thinking about closing two of Toledo's post offices locations. The Point Place branch on Summit and the midtown branch on Dorr.
"I live just a few blocks up the street. If I want to come down here for stamps, mail a package or whatever, I can do that," said Point Place resident Gary Siegel.
Do you use the Point Place or midtown post offices? Is this a fair budget decision, or do you think it's wrong to slate them for closure if consolidating does happen? Log in or register below to leave comments.
Siegel started a letter-writing campaign urging residents in the 43611 zip code to mail a letter to the U.S. postmaster to keep the Point Place location open.
Local business owner Howard Pinkley says he needs a post office and his company spent $1800 last year at the post office.
"There's other businesses out here that spend a lot of money. If that doesn't rate some merit, I don't know what they want," said Pinkley.
He and his staffers at the Flag Shop are handing out questionnaires asking people how often they use certain services.
